The Defence Minister- Joel Fitzgibbon- has announced that Australia is “more than happy” to help Indonesia build it’s defence force. The deal is expected to bring Indonesia and Australia even closer together, with Australian military companies setting up shop in the archipelago. This is despite ongoing reports of military human rights abuses in West Papua, and the failure of the Indonesian government to bring any military personel to real justice for abuses in Aceh and East Timor.
